Pictionary is one of the best board games for work parties, family parties, date activities, or to play with a large group of people. The game is not only interesting as it is a lot of fun and most people really like it. So, you can expect a lot of laughs.

However, as any game, Pictionary has its own rules. Since many people tend to have a lot of questions about them, here are the original Pictionary rules.

One of the best things about Pictionary is that you don’t need to be an artist. In fact, the worst you are at drawing, the more fun it will be. The main thing to think about when you’re playing is to be creative. That’s the best chance that you have to win the game.

Goal Of Pictionary:

The main goal of the game is to identify correctly the words that are being drawn. Each word that a team guesses correctly is one step further to winning the game. The winning team is the one that reaches the last square of the board and is able to guess the word correctly.

What Is Included:

When you buy the Pictionary game board you will get the board for the game, a timer sand, 4 pads of paper, 4 pencils, 496 keyword cards (each one has 5 different words), 4 category cards, and a die.

Pictionary Rules:

• Divide everyone into teams. You can have two or four teams depending on what you prefer as well as depending on how many people are going to play the game. However, it is usually more interesting to have fewer teams with more team members.

• Each team needs to choose the first drawer or picturist. Please notice that everyone on the team should have the chance to draw. So, each team should have the list ready.
• The first team to pick the card is the one who has the highest score after rolling the dice once. This should be the card at the front of the deck.

 

• After choosing the card, the picturist only has 5 seconds to look at the word in the respective category where the team is standing. Then the sand timer is set in place and the picturist has 1 minute to draw it while the other team members try to guess it.

• There are 5 different categories according to the Pictionary rules: AP: All Play, D: Difficult or more challenging words; A: Action (verbs or things that can be performed), P: Person, Place or Animal (it can include proper names); and O: Object or nouns (things that can be seen or touched). In what concerns the categories, they should all be played by only one team at a time except for the AP: All Play category. Whenever a team is in this square, the picturists from all teams need to see the card and they need to draw it at the same time. The first team to guess the word correctly takes control of the die and can roll it.

 

• Picturists can never use physical or verbal communication to their teammates as well as they can’t use any letters or numbers.
